VOOPOO DRAG 2 177W Starter Kit Review
The DRAG 2 Starter Kit is the successor of the original and still highly celebrated VOOPOO DRAG. It made its debut at the end of 2018 and since its release, the DRAG 2 has been garnering the attention of vapers everywhere due to its predecessors fan base and the eager anticipation of an updated version. We at CSVAPE were anxiously awaiting the DRAG 2 Kit as well and were happy to get our hands on one to check out what VOOPOO had done to improve on their epic original DRAG.
The DRAG 2 177W Mod
It is visibly obvious that the Voopoo DRAG 2 is slightly smaller, lighter and more curvaceous than the original. The edges are not sharp anymore and the DRAG 2 feels way more comfortable in your hand. The OLED screen has been updated, scroll and fire buttons are very clicky, and the 510 connection is more centered on the top of the mod compared to the original DRAG.
The DRAG has always been known for its accurate quick firing and its multifunctionality. The major difference between the DRAG and the DRAG 2 is the new GENE.FIT chip. The DRAG 2 now fires at a 177W max, which is a 20 watt increase from the original. It retains its multi-functionality, but the TC mode has an 80 watt limit. For some wanting to create more technical builds, this might be a disappointing feature.
FIT Mode has has three choices to select from and is supposed to intelligently adjust the settings to maximize the potential of the coil in use. It really is like adjusting wattage to fit your vaping preference. It doesn’t require much effort to scroll through the 3 FIT modes and test which vapor production level you enjoy the best. From a subjective standpoint, there seems to be little to no difference between the FIT modes
UFORCE T2 Tank
The UFORCE T2 tank is made of stainless steel and has a sweet looking shiny finish. It is 25mm in diameter, drip tip matches the resin panel, and the tank is compatible with an impressive ten distinct coils and five varying sized glass tubes. The kit includes the stock U2 round wire build and an N3 triple mesh coil.
The N3 triple mesh coil is the real shining star here as it offers better flavor, satisfying vapor production and will last longer than the round wire coil. Just be sure when using the N3 coil that you properly soak the cotton with enough vape juice and give it some time to fully absorb well before vaping to avoid burning the cotton.
The UFORCE T2 tank is really easy to use when replacing the coil, adjustable airflow is intuitive and the fill port is secured quite well underneath the top cap. In order to find the fill port, look for UFORCE printed on the atomizer to push on the top cap there and it will move over just enough for you to fill the tank.
Pros and Cons+ Affordable kit.
+ Solid construction.
+ Easy operation.
+ Excellent for beginners to advanced users.
+ Triple mesh coil offers impressive flavor and great vapor production.
+ Smaller and lighter than the original DRAG.
+ 25mm tanks can be used with no hangover.
- Raised 510 connection causes atomizers to not sit flush.
- TC mode has limited wattage.
- Battery door is slightly wobbly.
- Wattage mode is not easily found like SS, Ni and Ti.
- Scrolling does not round robin.
VOOPOO really does aim for high performance, longevity and vaping protection. We all have our preferences when it comes to setting our mods, how the atomizer sits on the mod, how the mod feels in your hand and much more. Price, flavor and vapor production are the three factors that sit pretty high on the list of demands for our lasting approval of a device. And even though, the DRAG 2 may have some drawbacks in design and function, it still is a solid mod worth investing in.
Many reviewers have been calling out VOOPOO on the “uselessness” of the FIT function. But, we think that GrimmGreen made a good point on his review for the DRAG 2. His point was that perhaps more advanced users may not have a use for it, but we all aren’t advanced users.
For those on the fence about switching from smoking to vaping, the smart FIT function would allow them to easily scroll through each level to test which setting would produce a good amount of vapor to make their experience a comfortable one. It can show them how easy, tasty and satisfying vaping can be to convince them to finally commit to making that switch for good. And as they learn more about what type of vaping experience they want, the DRAG 2 still has great function to play around with and have a great time.
VOOPOO may have made some questionable design choices on the DRAG 2 like the raised 510 connection, TC mode limitations or the weird play in the battery door, which they have addressed and fixed. But as far as cost, performance and flavor transfer, the DRAG 2 still delivers. It is an affordable kit at $59.97 that offers a variety of functions for different level vapers. The UFORCE T2 tank is easy to fill, delivers great flavor/vapor and best of all, it doesn’t leak. That being said, we at CSVAPE highly recommend you add a VOOPOO DRAG 2 Starter Kit to your vape collection because you are gonna love it!
